I began breeding and showing Russian Blue cats under the prefix of Tyana in 1976 in Adelaide with Shankeeta Kristi as my first Russian . At that time there was little information available about cat breeding in general, and particularly Russians. Another new breeder who had started around the same time was Hilda Blackmore and together we worked with this wonderful breed, as Hilda had a stud which I was able to use. I became involved in showing and have shown my cats for over 30 years. I enjoy the shows as I have met some wonderful breeders during this time both of Russians and many other breeds. There is always something new to learn. In 1993 I moved to Townsville in Queensland and have shown my cats in Cairns, Mackay and Brisbane as well as Townsville.In September 2011 I moved back to Adelaide and look forward to a new era of showing and breeding. Over the years I have produced some wonderful Russians who have gone on to become champions through to Gold DGC and Australian Ch status. My kittens have gone to both breeders and pet owners in all states of Australia and overseas to a breeder in The Netherlands. Then in 1990 I started breeding the Birman, and ‘Kirashan’ became my prefix for my Birman cats.Although very different to look at, the Birman are also have a very gentle, fun-loving nature. We are a small cattery, constantly striving to improve our cats. All of our kittens are raised in our home and we encourage new owners to keep their cats as ‘indoor only’ pets as both breeds are easy to keep inside, out of harms way. We show our cats regularly to help us attain a high standard in the breeds. |
